WHO WE ARE
South Valley Services is a non-profit organization whose mission to provide options through counseling, case management,
prevention and shelter to anyone who has experienced domestic violence to live lives free from violence. Our programs aim
to empower individuals and communities to recognize their self-worth and to develop the necessary skills to reach their
greatest potential. We believe advocacy, prevention and safety are the primary tools in the process of eliminating domestic
violence.

JOB SUMMARY: VICTIM ADVOCATE
Victim Advocates are responsible for assisting, advocating on behalf of and providing for the needs of shelter residents. Able
to implement strategies to ensure for the safety and security of shelter residents. Provides a supportive and compassionate
environment for shelter residents. Provides a positive connection between the community and the shelter.

CLASSIFICATION
Full-time 40 Hours per week (Non-exempt)

SCHEDULE
5 average shifts consistent at SVS
• 6:00 am – 2:00 pm (mornings)
• 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm (evenings)
• 10:00 pm – 6:00 am (graveyards)
• 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (overlap morning)
• 5:00 pm – 1:00 am (overlap afternoon)

QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to pass a full BCI background check
• CPR and First Aid Certification is required
• Understanding of the definition, dynamics and cause of domestic violence
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Programs
• Excellent customer service, public relations capabilities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Able to coordinate and work effectively with a variety of personalities
• Must have a professional demeanor and extremely reliable
• Bilingual, Spanish is preferred

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Experience working with people required, preferably in a human service field

SALARY
$14.50 per hour, language and education differentials available
