Victim Advocate (Full-Time)

WHO WE ARE?

South Valley Services (SVS) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide options to anyone who has experienced domestic violence. We provide counseling, case management, prevention, and shelter to help individuals and families build lives free from violence. Our programs aim to empower individuals to recognize their self-worth and develop the necessary skills to reach their full potential. SVS believes advocacy, prevention, and safety are the primary tools in eliminating domestic violence. To achieve this goal, SVS groups these three strategies into the following service areas:

  • The Sanctuary: provides shelter for women, men, and children seeking a safe place away from domestic violence
  • Community Resource Centers (CRCs): provide case management and supportive services from community-based locations to make accessing services more attainable
  • Prevention and Education informs and educates the public regarding domestic violence and how to recognize, respond, and refer individuals who need services

Job Summary: VICTIM ADVOCATE

Victim Advocates are responsible for assisting, advocating on behalf of and providing for the needs of shelter residents. Able to implement strategies to ensure for the safety and security of shelter residents. Provides a supportive and compassionate environment for shelter residents. Provides a positive connection between the community and the shelter.

Classification:

Full-time 40 Hours per week (Non-exempt)

Two (3) positions available 

Schedule:

            Mornings and afternoons available

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a full BCI background check.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification is required
  • Understanding of the definition, dynamics, and cause of domestic violence
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Programs
  • Excellent customer service, public relations capabilities
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to coordinate and work effectively with a variety of personalities.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and extremely reliable.
  • Bilingual, Spanish is preferred

Education/Experience:

Experience working with people required, preferably in a human service field.

Salary:

language differentials available

Weekend and graveyard Differential

Pay Increase after 90 days
