Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is South Valley Service’s governing body. They are responsible for establishing agency policies and overseeing the activities of South Valley Services and our Executive Director. They meet monthly and are actively involved in the operations of the shelter.

  • Ruth Weniger

    Ruth Weniger

    Board Chair

    Ruth Weniger, President of Powered By Strategy LLC, provides business development consulting, strategic planning, and executive coaching to businesses and individuals across diverse business sectors. Her focus is on helping high-performance clients achieve business excellence while maintaining their personal balance and perspective. Ruth is committed to helping South Valley Services grow in its ability to serve clients and the community. She has served on other domestic violence boards as well as organizations serving music education and early childhood education.

  • Michael Harris

    Michael Harris

    Treasurer

     A native of Utah, Michael is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Utah. He currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer at GPS Capital Markets. Michael's career at GPS has seen him in various leadership roles across departments such as Accounting, Operations, Finance, Credit, Business Intelligence, and HR. Beyond work, he enjoys family life and is an enthusiastic reader.

  • Joanne Miller

    Joanne Miller

    Secretary 

    A graduate of Western Australia’s Edith Cowan University (ECU) Radio and Television Broadcasting degree, with over 30 years of copywriting and editing experience, Joanne has worked with private and government sectors, including mineral exploration and engineering, corporate and residential real estate, lifestyle publishing, education, recruitment, and retail. A native Aussie with a love of travel – she has lived and worked in Singapore, the Philippines, remote Australia, and various states within the US. Joanne is a self-confessed animal lover, foodie, a keen ‘shutterbug’ (amateur photographer), and is passionate about mental health and well-being.

  • Carol Earnshaw

    Carol Earnshaw has been a dedicated supporter of SVS since 2020, passionately advocating for survivors of domestic violence. As a survivor herself, Carol shares her powerful story of resilience with community groups, inspiring others and raising awareness about the critical issue. Professionally, Carol works in Property Management at NXT Management. Outside of her professional and advocacy work, Carol cherishes her family and is a proud mother of four children, ranging in age from 13 to 25.

  • Romy Humphries

    Romy Humphries

    BOARD MEMBER

    Romy Humphries is an accomplished marketing leader with extensive experience successfully guiding multinational corporations in healthcare, manufacturing, and finance. She currently directs the Global Marketing of GPS Capital Markets, a corporate foreign exchange firm headquartered in Utah. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Utah and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Born in Argentina and raised in Italy, her multicultural upbringing provided Romy with an enduring appreciation of diverse cultures and a passion for assisting the disadvantaged. Romy is fluent in Spanish and Italian. In her spare time, she enjoys discovering new cultures through travel and engaging in volunteer work with her husband and four children.

    Born and raised in Central California, Eric made his way to Utah to pursue higher education after high school.  He graduated from LDS Business College with a two year degree in Business and then earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business.  Eric has been in the Banking Industry for over 25 years and currently is a VP and Relationship Manager with Altabank serving small to mid-sized businesses throughout the state.  As part of his banking career he was able to attend and graduate from Pacific Coast Banking School.  Banking has also allowed Eric opportunities to give back to the community by participating in non-profit organizations which has been a fulfilling part of his career.  Eric loves to spend time with his wife and six children, run and play golf.

    For more than 5 years, Eric Montague has been the Chief Information Security Officer at GPS Capital Markets, Inc. He is also the founder of Executech, a successful multi-state IT services company. Known for his commitment to fostering success in others, Eric embraces a philosophy of growth by stepping outside his comfort zone. Whether through professional guidance or personal initiatives, he is passionate about helping others and making a positive impact.

  • Libby Vasiljevic

    Libby Vasiljevic

    BOARD MEMBER

    Libby Vasiljevic, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, holds dual Master's degrees in Healthcare Administration and Public Administration from the prestigious University of Utah Eccles School of Business. With a passion for improving community healthcare, Libby started her professional career in community behavioral health and substance abuse residential treatment settings. Today, she serves as a dedicated Compliance and Ethics Senior Partner at Intermountain Health. Beyond her professional commitments, Libby finds joy in exploring new destinations through travel and cherishing moments with her daughter.

  • Rita Wright

    Rita Wright

    Board Member

    Rita Wright recently retired as the Director of the Springville Museum of Art. During her time there her staff created programs on the healing influences of art and had an opportunity to work with youth and adults to discover their creative abilities. She also coordinated programs for Utah’s K-12 students and teachers, working with legislators to advance the educational needs of Utah’s children. Rita has had a longtime interest in the effects of domestic violence on family, friends, and her community. Rita enjoys family, reading, and traveling and feels that her most enjoyable moments come with listening to others’ stories and finding our common bonds.
